Simi admits she was irritated writing the smash hit ‘Joromi’.
She claimed to have been irritated when she wrote it, but she is now happy that she did.
The 2017 smash song Joromi from Simi’s self-titled album wasn’t always a favorite of hers. The Afrobeats artist admitted to being annoyed when writing the song since she was under pressure to finish it by a deadline in a recent interview with CNN.
She discussed where her musical inspiration originates from in the CNN interview. It’s shocking to learn that she occasionally lacks them.
“Sometimes I don’t have any inspiration but I have a deadline. I don’t really like those, because you know you have to force it to come. And I’m not crazy about those,” she told CNN. “I’ve made like really great songs from those. ‘Joromi’ was one of those,” she added.
The crew delivered her the beat for “Joromi,” and she had to make a song for it, even though she thought she had finished composing all the songs for the album.
“’Joromi’ was a deadline song. I was even done. They sent me a beat and I was like I’m done writing,” she said. “I wrote like five different songs on that beat that I didn’t like and then ‘Joromi’ came but it was like a deadline song,” she added.
She claimed to have been irritated when she wrote it, but she is now happy that she did.
“I didn’t even want to write the song. I was just irritated. But I’m glad that I did,” she said.
